 The same person
I'm about 99% sure that Florina of WA3 is actually Mariel of WA and WAACF.

Well, seeing that it says "Mariel" in katakana on the WA3 artbook sketch of her, the rest of us can pretty much be 99.99% sure as well.

Not to mention her personal stats and profile are exactly the same as Mariel's and the fact that she even has one, when she isn't really a major character. Then there's the art showing them making Mariel's outfit into hers. And all their other similiarities.

 Re: The same person
I've always been more curious why the translators changed her name from Mariel to Florina - if she was called Mariel in the japanese version of the game, there seemed little point in changing it, especially when Mariel isn't a non-westernised name.
Makes you wonder what else they changed in the localisation.

 Re: The same person
No idea with the locaization. Then again, thanks for the name tags so we can just fix that name RIGHHHTT UP Then again, I read somewhere about Wild Arms 3 stating there was one Elw left in Filgaia. (Then again it also said in baskar Village...I dunno if I overlooked anything or not there )

 Re: The same person
On the subject of references to one Elw left... now I've looked into it again... there are two quotes from the game that are interesting regarding Mariel:
(both are from the World's Footprint)
"the last Elw <Mariel> gave rise to the Baskar creed." both a clear reference to an Elw called Mariel, and an interesting plot point about the foundation of Baskar.
"It is said she parted company with the Baskar after a bitter disagreement. However, the Elw race are said to have great longevity. That is why to this day, we continue our efforts, and pray that our separated paths will one day cross, yet. again..."
Of course when you meet Florina she's still called Florina... but I would say that this hints much more to her purposely hiding from being recognised as an Elw, and from the Basker people.
Also, if we didn't have the proof from the artbook there's also the hint in Gallows comment when they first meet Florina: "Whoa...I'm shocked. You've got a stronger bond with your surroundings than even us Baskars! It's like..."

 Re: The same person
Why....does that actually make sense? Well they gave us some hinting and all through out the game, so they weren't TRYING to hide it from us...but...now I wanna know that disagreement. :C

 Re: The same person
Yeah. It would be interesting to see screenshots from the Japanese game to see what name she has when you talk to her in game. It might be that it was an artbook confirmation of something that wasn't in the game - her name could have been a variation of Florina still.
But, it seems odd actually. They talk about a "bitter disagreement", but if we take her personality from the first game/ACF and what we know of her from WA3... it must have been a very serious argument to get that sort of reaction out of her.

 Re: The same person
i thought that the WA games were not connected but now mariel and siegfried have confused me. If this florina is the same as mariel does wa3 take place before or after the events of wa1?

 Re: The same person
Technically the same, but... mmm. There's a debate on whether or not the worlds are the same, so hard to say. Last official word was apparently "parallel worlds" but let's not even start on that subject here.

 Re: The same person
Wild Arms frequently references to parallel universes. So while it may not be the same person, it could be an alternate Filgaia where she is actual the Mariel of that multi-verse, and Seigfried is Zeikfried's multiple.
Ah, I love that subject. <3

 Re: The same person
Yeah, I believe the last official word was parallel world, but before that a reasonably (in other words - caused massive "debates" back in the day) popular theory was that Wild Arms 3 was a distant sequel to Wild Arms 1.
